Rainy day in Nice? No worries — the French Riviera still has plenty of charm even in the rain!

 Culture

  • Musée Matisse – Set in a beautiful villa, showcasing Matisse's life and art.
  • Musée Marc Chagall – Dreamy and vibrant paintings with biblical themes.
  • Palais Lascaris – A baroque palace turned into a museum of musical instruments.
  • Musée d’Art Moderne et d’Art Contemporain (MAMAC) – For fans of modern vibes.
  • Parc Phœnix - A giant tropical greenhouse where you'll find exotic plants, animals (like iguanas, turtles, flamingos), and even an insectarium.

 Entertainment

  • Opéra de Nice – Check if there's a matinee performance or an evening show.
  • Cinema – Pathé Masséna or Cinéma Rialto for French films (some show versions with English subtitles — look for "VO").
  • Local wine or olive oil tasting – Try Cave Bianchi for a wine cave experience in the Old Town.
  • Cooking class – Join a Niçoise cuisine workshop — some include market tours (under cover!).

 Shopping

  • Nice Étoile Mall – Right on Avenue Jean Médecin. Great for shelter and shopping.
  • Galeries Lafayette – A classic French department store.

For Families

Muséum d’Histoire Naturelle – Small but great for curious minds; fossils, animals, and interactive exhibits.

Musée Océanographique de Monaco – It's 30 minutes by train/bus, but so worth it on a rainy day. Massive aquariums, sea turtles, and even a rooftop with a view (if the rain eases).

Musée de la Curiosité – Quirky, interactive museum with optical illusions, automata, and magic tricks.

Escape rooms and Laser Game Evolution – Check out Fox in a Box Nice or Closed Escape Game — many have family-friendly options.

Indoor trampoline parks or play zones – Jump XL Nice or Royal Kids .

L'Atelier Galerie de Nice – Offers painting and pottery workshops that are kid-friendly (check for drop-in availability).

Kidooland – English-speaking activity center with storytelling, music, and craft sessions for younger kids.

Mini World Côte d’Azur (a short train ride away in La Valette-du-Var) – A massive miniature universe with trains, cities, and fun scenes that light up and move.

Planetarium in Cannes (if you're up for a 30-40 min train ride) – Has shows for kids about space and the stars.
